Mets 6, Phillies 5
After Daniel Murphy tied the game with an RBI single off Jonathan Papelbon's foot, David Wright capped a ninth-inning rally with a run-scoring single as host New York took two of three from Philadelphia.
Wright deposited an inside fastball from Papelbon (2-3) into shallow right field to plate Jordany Valdespin for his fourth RBI of the game. The rally prevented R.A. Dickey from seeing his 11-game winning streak come to an end.
The blown save was just the second in 20 opportunities for Papelbon. Bobby Parnell (2-1) picked up the win after striking out a pair in the ninth inning.
Scott Hairston homered for his second straight contest and Wright also went deep for the Mets, who have won six of their last eight.
Jimmy Rollins collected three hits, drove in a pair of runs and scored on a safety squeeze in the sixth inning for Philadelphia. After Rollins' RBI triple plated Cole Hamels to tie the game at 4-4, Juan Pierre laid a bunt down the first-base line. Pierre's sacrifice allowed Rollins to race home from third to give the Phillies the lead.
Rollins also had an RBI double and Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence added run-scoring singles for the Phillies, who have dropped seven of their last eight.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Phillies slugger Ryan Howard, who is working his way back from an Achilles injury, could make his return to the majors this weekend. Howard is faring well in his rehab starts with Class A Lakewood and Triple-A Lehigh Valley. ... Hairston, who has a team-leading 12 homers, has belted a National League-leading nine off left-handers this season. It was the fifth in his career off Hamels.
