Mariners 3, Indians 1
Eric Thames snapped a tie with a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning as host Seattle capped a three-game sweep of slumping Cleveland.
Michael Saunders belted his fourth homer in as many contests for the Mariners, who have won 10 of their last 11 overall and eight in a row at home.
After striking out in his three previous at-bats, Thames whipped Safeco Field into a frenzy in the eighth inning by depositing an offering from Vinnie Pestano (3-1) into shallow right field. Kyle Seager and John Jaso came around to score to give Seattle a 3-1 lead.
Rookie Stephen Pryor (3-0) was credited with the win after retiring both batters he faced in the top of the eighth inning. Tom Wilhelmsen worked the ninth for his 19th save.
Saunders opened the scoring in the first inning after crushing a 3-2 fastball from starter Zach McAllister into the seats in right-center field. The blast was Saunders' 14th homer of the season.
Former Mariner Casey Kotchman had an RBI infield single and Shin Soo-Choo had a pair of hits and scored a run for the Indians, who have lost 18 of 19 on the road and 21 of 25 overall.
