Cardinals 6, Rockies 2

Matt Holliday and Carlos Beltran drove in two runs apiece and Lance Lynn pitched six shutout innings for his 11th win as host St. Louis took three of four from Colorado.

Holliday, who has 21 RBIs in his last 18 games, had a run-scoring single in a five-run fifth that put the Cardinals up 6-0. St. Louis has won 11 of the last 14 meetings with Colorado.

Bouncing back from a three-game slump, Lynn (11-4) struck out seven and walked two while allowing four hits.

Rockies starter Christian Friedrich (4-6) struggled with his control in the pivotal fifth. He issued three walks, including a bases-loaded free pass to Jon Jay that made it 2-0 Cardinals. Holliday followed with an RBI single, then Beltran smacked a two-run double off the wall in center.

St. Louis grabbed a first-inning lead thanks to Rafael Furcal, who singled, advanced to second on a bunt, stole third and scored on Holliday’s grounder.

Tyler Colvin hit a two-run homer for Colorado, which has dropped five of six.

Rockies All-Star Carlos Gonzalez saw his 12-game hitting streak end, going 0-for-4 with a walk.
