Dodgers 4, Diamondbacks 1

Elian Herrera and Scott Van Slyke hit solo homers to help Nathan Eovaldi earn his first win of the season as visiting Los Angeles handed Arizona its sixth consecutive loss.

Eovaldi (1-5) shackled the Diamondbacks on one run and five hits and received a rare offensive outburst from the Dodgers, who had scored a total of five runs in his first seven starts.

Juan Rivera had an RBI double and Luis Cruz added a run-scoring single in the first inning for Los Angeles, which won its third straight. Mark Ellis added two hits after he was activated from the 15-day disabled list earlier Thursday.

Scott Elbert and Ronald Belisario each pitched a scoreless inning before closer Kenley Jansen struck out the side in the ninth for his 15th save.

Diamondbacks left-hander Wade Miley (9-5), an All-Star selection, was charged with four runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings in losing his second straight start.

Herrera belted his first career homer in the seventh inning and Van Slyke hit his second career shot - and first in 17 games - in the fourth to extend Arizona's spiral.

Stephen Drew had an RBI single in the second inning for the Diamondbacks, whose franchise-record streak of homering in 15 straight games was snapped.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dodgers SS Dee Gordon, who leads the majors in stolen bases, will undergo surgery on his thumb and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks. He suffered a torn ligament while stealing a base in Wednesday's game. ... Miley lost at home for the first time since May 9 against St. Louis. ... Both of Eovaldi's victories have come at the expense of Arizona. He beat the Diamondbacks in his major-league debut on Aug. 6, 2011.
