Dodgers 2, Rockies 1

Dodgers 2, Rockies 1: Pinch hitter Tony Gwynn broke a 1-1 tie with a one-out single in the eighth inning as host Los Angeles improved to a major league-best 22-11.

James Loney led off the eighth with an infield hit off Josh Outman (0-1). After A.J. Ellis sacrificed him to second, Gwynn served a 0-2 pitch from Matt Belisle to left center. Gwynn is 4-for-9 as a pinch hitter this season.

Aaron Harang (2-2) allowed one run and four hits in eight innings in his second straight quality start and Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth for his third save in four chances.

Juan Nicasio struck out a season-high nine and allowed one run and five hits in seven innings for the Rockies, who fell to 2-8 in May.

Andre Ethier led off the fifth inning with a double and scored on Juan Uribe’s one out single to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

Colorado tied it when Tyler Colvin homered into the right field pavilion with two outs in the seventh, but that was all the National League’s worst offense on the road at 3.0 runs per game could muster.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado fell to 13-25 in the past five seasons at Dodger Stadium. ... Los Angeles’ Matt Kemp hasn’t homered in 10 games since hitting 12 in his first 23. … Nicasio remained winless (0-3) in nine career road starts. … Jansen has 30 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings.
