Dodgers 6, Padres 0

Chad Billingsley tossed 8 1/3 scoreless innings and Andre Ethier had four RBIs as Los Angeles dealt San Diego its second straight home defeat.

Los Angeles scored six runs — five earned — off Cory Luebke (0-1), who gave up nine hits and a walk before exiting after 4 2/3 innings. Ethier’s two-out RBI double scored Mark Ellis and Juan Rivera in the first inning, and Matt Kemp and Rivera followed with run-scoring singles in the fourth.

Ethier’s two-run fifth-inning triple helped the Dodgers extend the lead to 6-0.

Billingsley (1-0) allowed just three hits, one walk and struck out 11 for the Dodgers, who needed him to have a big outing after their bullpen was forced to work six innings in the opener.

The right-hander struck out the side in the first and third and induced an inning-ending double play in the second as the Padres’ offense struggled for the second straight game.

No San Diego hitter reached base from the fifth through eighth innings against Billingsley, who exited in the ninth after throwing 108 pitches.

Four players — Ethier, Ellis, Kemp and Rivera — had multi-hit games for the Dodgers, who improved to 7-3 at Petco Park since last season.

San Diego's Micah Owings and Andrew Cashner gave up just one hit in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
