Royals 4, Orioles 3

Alcides Escobar delivered a walk-off double in the ninth as Kansas City came from behind to stun visiting Baltimore.

David Lough singled with one out in the ninth and Escobar followed by driving a first-pitch sinker from Darren O’Day (5-1) off the top of the wall in left just over the leap of Nate McLouth to plate the winning run. Eric Hosmer homered twice and Billy Butler recorded a pair of hits for the Royals, who have won four of six since the All-Star break.

Luke Hochevar (3-1) worked a scoreless inning in relief of Ervin Santana to pick up the win.

The Orioles tacked on a run in the top of the eighth to take a 3-1 lead but Lorenzo Cain singled in the bottom of the frame with one out. Hosmer came up next and belted a 2-1 fastball into the seats in right-center to tie the game.

Hosmer had given the Royals a 1-0 lead in the first with a shot over the bullpen in right. Matt Wieters put Baltimore on top in the fourth with a two-run blast into the first row in right off Santana.
