Braves 6, Diamondbacks 2
Freddie Freeman homered and drove in three runs for the second straight contest and Dan Uggla and Brian McCann also went deep as host Atlanta recorded its fifth three-game sweep of the season.
Paul Maholm (9-6) secured the victory after yielding two runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Jason Heyward collected two hits for the third straight game as the National League East-leading Braves posted their fifth win in six contests.
With the game tied at 1-1, Justin Upton prevented an inning-ending double play in the third by beating the return throw to first base. Freeman rewarded the spirited effort by depositing a first-pitch sinker from Trevor Cahill (3-10) over the wall in left-center field.
Uggla also jumped on a first-pitch sinker in the fifth inning for a two-run homer. The blast spelled the end for Cahill, who dropped his sixth straight decision dating back to May 17 after yielding six runs on seven hits while walking four in 4 1/3 innings.
A.J. Pollock had two hits and scored twice on double-play balls for the NL West-leading Diamondbacks, who have dropped six of their last seven overall and eight of nine on the road.
