Blue Jays 3, Braves 0
Blue Jays 3, Braves 0: Melky Cabrera had three hits and two RBIs while four Toronto pitchers limited host Atlanta to four hits in the opener of a two-game mini-series.
Esmil Rogers kept the Braves off the scoresheet for 3 1/3 innings in a spot start, Juan Perez (1-0) struck out four over 2 2/3 perfect frames and Neil Wagner allowed one hit over his two innings of work. Casey Janssen finished off the unlikely shutout with a perfect ninth for his 11th save.
Braves starter Kris Medlen (1-6) lasted just two innings after taking a comebacker from Emilio Bonifacio in the left leg and suffering a calf contusion. Medlen was charged with three runs on four hits as he fell to 0-5 in his last nine starts.
Already up 1-0, Toronto struck for two more runs in the second inning. After Bonifacio singled off Medlen's leg and promptly stole second, Munenori Kawasaki drew a one-out walk and both came in to score on Cabrera's single to left field two batters later.
Atlanta didn't mount a serious threat thereafter, failing to advance a runner past first base after the fourth inning.
