Indians 9, Tigers 6
Michael Brantley hit two home runs, including a two-run shot to break a tie in the eighth inning, as host Cleveland blew a 6-1 lead before snapping a seven-game losing streak to Detroit.
Brantley recorded a career-high five RBIs while Carlos Santana and Lonnie Chisenhall also went deep for the Indians, who halted a four-game slide. Corey Kluber, who was 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA against Detroit this season, matched a career high with 10 strikeouts while allowing two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Torii Hunter had four RBIs, including a three-run homer to tie the game 6-6 in the eighth inning for Detroit, which had its five-game winning streak snapped. All-Star Miguel Cabrera had four hits, including a solo home run, and drove in his major league-leading 89th and 90th runs.
After Cabrera crushed his 28th homer well into the left-field seats in the first inning, Cleveland responded in the bottom half when All-Star Jason Kipnis and Nick Swisher walked with two outs and scored on Brantley's double over left fielder Andy Dirks' head. Santana followed with a home run just over the wall in right.
Swisher began the eighth inning with a walk against Al Alburquerque (1-2) before Brantley crushed a 3-1 pitch into the right-field seats. Cody Allen (4-1) recorded the final out in the eighth and Chris Perez worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to earn his ninth save in 11 chances.
