Rangers 7, Tigers 2

Elvis Andrus had a career-high five hits, scored three runs and drove in a pair to power host Texas in the third game of the series.

Lance Berkman had two hits and two RBIs and Mitch Moreland homered to back 6 2/3 strong innings from Justin Grimm as the Rangers won for the eighth time in 10 games. Andrus' 5-for-5 night boosted his batting average 20 points to .282.

Grimm (3-3) snapped a three-start losing streak, limiting Detroit to two runs and seven hits. Michael Kirkman got the final out in the seventh before Tanner Scheppers and Joe Nathan finished up. Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez (4-4) lasted only 2 2/3 innings and was rocked for six runs - five earned - on nine hits.

Andrus singled, moved to third on an error and scored on a passed ball in the first inning and had an RBI triple in a three-run second that included a throwing error from Sanchez, who fell to 0-3 lifetime against Texas.

Torii Hunter's RBI double and Prince Fielder's run-scoring single in the third cut the deficit to 4-2, but Texas got those runs back in the bottom of the inning on Moreland's leadoff homer and Andrus' RBI single to end Sanchez's night.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Moreland's third-inning blast - the second allowed by Sanchez this season - marked the 11th consecutive game in which the Rangers have hit a home run. ... In two career starts at Rangers Ballpark, Sanchez has been battered for 13 runs - 12 earned - and 16 hits in 6 1/3 innings. ... Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler sat out his second straight game with bruised ribs.
