Dodgers 7, Rockies 4
Ricky Nolasco pitched six strong innings and red-hot Carl Crawford drove in a pair of runs as visiting Los Angeles won its sixth straight game.
Nolasco (12-9), who is 7-1 in 11 starts since being acquired by the Dodgers, allowed two runs and five hits in six innings. Nick Punto matched a career high with four hits while Crawford had three for Los Angeles, which is 53-13 in its last 66 contests and leads Arizona by 13 1/2 games in the National League West.
Colorado's Jhoulys Chacin (13-8) carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his last start, but allowed a single to Crawford - 10-for-18 in his last four games - to start the contest and yielded four runs and nine hits in seven innings. Josh Rutledge hit a pinch-hit home run for the Rockies.
The Dodgers scored three runs in the second inning - two on Crawford's single - and took a 4-0 lead in the fifth on Adrian Gonzalez's sacrifice fly. Chacin delivered an RBI single in the bottom half and Troy Tulowitzki's RBI groundout in the sixth made it 4-2.
Colorado got within one in the eighth inning with Rutledge's leadoff home run, but stranded a runner at second when Tulowitzki lined into an inning-ending double play. Los Angeles broke it open in the ninth as left fielder Charlie Culberson dropped Mark Ellis' fly ball in the gap with two outs, allowing three runs to score.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rockies activated LF Carlos Gonzalez - who hasn't played since Aug. 7 - from the 15-day disabled list. He entered the game during a double switch in the eighth inning before being pinch hit for by Rutledge as his sprained right middle finger continues to bother him. ... Dodgers rookie RF Yasiel Puig did not play after suffering a mild knee strain Monday. Manager Don Mattingly said Puig was not going to play Tuesday anyway. ... Rockies CF Dexter Fowler returned to the lineup after missing six games because of a bruised left knee and went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks, and was doubled off second on Tulowitzki's liner.
