Rockies 6, Cardinals 2

Wilin Rosario broke a tie with a single in a four-run eighth inning while Charlie Blackmon had three hits and two RBIs as visiting Colorado slowed St. Louis' pennant run.

After Troy Tulowitzki led off with a walk against Trevor Rosenthal (2-4), Todd Helton advanced him to third with a single up the middle. Rosario ripped a 1-1 fastball down the left-field line before Blackmon's two-out RBI double and pinch-hitter Ryan Wheeler's two-run single broke it open.

Tulowitzki drove in the other run for the Rockies, who won for the third time in their last 10 games as they began the final homestand of Helton's 17-year career. Chad Bettis (1-3) notched his first major-league victory despite allowing the tying run in the eighth inning.

David Freese and Matt Carpenter had RBIs for the Cardinals, who remained even with Pittsburgh atop the National League Central despite losing for only the third time in their last 10 contests. Lance Lynn ran his winless streak to eight starts after permitting two runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

One-out singles by Rosario and Josh Rutledge chased Lynn in the seventh before Blackmon greeted reliever Kevin Siegrist with a soft line drive just over the head of drawn-in shortstop Daniel Descalso to give Colorado a 2-1 lead. Carpenter's major league-leading 51st double drove in Pete Kozma with two outs in the eighth to tie it.
