Yankees 3, Astros 2

David Adams belted a two-run double and Adam Warren scattered two hits over five solid innings as visiting New York handed Houston its franchise-high 13th straight setback.

Mark Reynolds had an RBI single among his two hits for the Yankees, who ended a four-game skid with their fourth win in 13 outings.

Pinch hitter Brett Wallace ripped a two-run double off struggling reliever Joba Chamberlain with two outs in the seventh inning to trim New York's lead to 3-2. The Astros mustered little else and have scored a paltry 21 runs during their pronounced losing skid.

Reynolds snapped a scoreless tie in the fourth inning after singling to left field to plate Robinson Cano, who scored as outfielder Chris Carter's throw sailed up the third-base line. Adams followed with a mammoth two-run double off the top of the wall in right against Brett Oberholtzer (4-5).

Warren (3-2) struck out four in a spot start as veteran Andy Pettitte was shuffled to pitch in Saturday's contest. Three relievers bridged the gap to David Robertson, who retired the side in the ninth for his third save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oberholtzer lost his fourth consecutive start after permitting three runs (two earned) on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. ... Houston RF L.J. Hoes went 2-for-4 to record his 14th multi-hit game since being acquired from Baltimore. ... New York INF Eduardo Nunez went 0-for-4 to see his seven-game hitting streak come to an end.
