Royals 3, Twins 1

Ervin Santana yielded one run in eight innings to lift Kansas City to a win in its home opener.

Santana (1-1) scattered eight hits - half of them coming in Minnesota's one-run first - and struck out eight while walking one to pick up his first win in a Royals uniform. Aaron Crow became the third Kansas City reliever to earn a save this season by working a scoreless ninth.

Kevin Correia (0-1) gave up three runs - all in the eighth - on eight hits and one walk in 7 1/3 innings for the Twins.

Ryan Doumit had an RBI single in the first inning to give Minnesota a lead that would last until the eighth. Lorenzo Cain started the decisive Kansas City rally with a double and Alex Gordon singled him in one out later to tie it.

Alcides Escobar's go-ahead RBI double chased Correia and, after a wild pitch by reliever Jared Burton, Billy Butler knocked in another run with a base hit to right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Butler has eight RBIs in his last two games. He tied the franchise record with seven Sunday at Philadelphia. ... The save was the third of Crow's career. ... Twins rookie CF Aaron Hicks went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and is 2-for-30 with 13 strikeouts on the season.
