Rays 5, Yankees 1

Matt Moore pitched eight strong innings and Ryan Roberts homered twice as host Tampa Bay won its fourth straight.

CC Sabathia (3-2) started for New York and had a rough first inning, yielding a solo blast to Roberts, an RBI triple to Sean Rodriguez and a two-run homer to Yunel Escobar. Moore (4-0) struck out nine and allowed a run on two hits.

Robinson Cano hit a solo home run and recorded both hits for the Yankees, who have dropped back-to-back games for the first time since the season’s opening week. Sabathia was charged with five runs on seven hits.

Roberts got things started with one out in the first, driving an 0-2 hanging breaking ball into the stands in left-center. Rodriguez came up with two outs and one on and laced a triple to right-center in front of Escobar, who took the first pitch out the opposite way to right-center for a 4-0 cushion.

Roberts got to Sabathia again in the third and Cano put New York on the board with his sixth homer in the fourth.
