Clint Barmes belted a three-run homer in the seventh and Charlie Morton tossed 7 2/3 strong innings as visiting Pittsburgh continued its successful road trip.

Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison recorded two hits apiece while Mark Melancon notched his ninth save for the first-place Pirates, who maintained their one-game lead over St. Louis in the National League Central. Pittsburgh improved to 4-1 on its seven-game trek.

Roger Kieschnick gave San Francisco the lead with an RBI single in the fourth before Pittsburgh rallied against Madison Bumgarner (11-8) in the seventh. Gaby Sanchez and Harrison began the frame with singles and Barmes hit a shot that just cleared the wall in left field two batters later for his fourth blast of the year.

Morton (5-3) limited the Giants to one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out three. The right-hander has allowed fewer than three runs in each of his last four outings.

Bumgarner yielded three runs and seven hits over eight innings as his winless streak reached four starts. Buster Posey doubled and scored the lone run for San Francisco, which has lost three straight and five of six.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh's Jordy Mercer went 1-for-4 while making his first major-league start at third base. ... San Francisco placed RHP Matt Cain (forearm) on the disabled list Friday and recalled RHP Yusmeiro Petit from Triple-A Fresno. It is the first trip to the DL for Cain in his nine-year major-league career. The Giants also recalled LHP Mike Kickham and optioned INF Nick Noonan to Fresno. ... San Francisco fell to 9-23 against the NL Central, while Pittsburgh improved to 58-3 when leading after seven innings.
