Dillon Gee tossed 7 2/3 solid innings and Marlon Byrd matched his career high with his 20th homer as New York wrapped up its 11-game, four-city road trip by winning a rescheduled contest.
Eric Young Jr. and rookie Wilmer Flores each had an RBI single and scored a run. Andrew Brown, Omar Quintanilla and Daniel Murphy had RBI singles as seven different Mets collected two hits to help them improve to 10-4 in interleague play.
Gee (9-8), who allowed an unearned run on six hits and nine strikeouts, has yielded four earned runs in as many starts (28 1/3 innings).
After scratching for a run in each of the first two innings, New York quickly loaded the bases in the fourth. Quintanilla gave the Mets a 3-0 lead with a sharp RBI single to right before Murphy ended the day of rookie Kyle Gibson (2-4) with an RBI single to center field.
Joe Mauer had a pair of hits and Trevor Plouffe scored on Murphy's error in the seventh inning for the Twins, who have dropped four in a row and six of seven.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Gibson saw his winless stretch extend to six starts after permitting four runs on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings. ... New York won the first two contests in April before the series finale was postponed because of snow. ... Byrd collected 20 homers with Texas in 2009. ... After completing a 5-6 road trip, New York returns home Tuesday for an abbreviated two-game series versus Atlanta. Minnesota begins a six-game road trip on Tuesday with the opener of a three-game set against Detroit.
