Rockies 8, Mets 4 (Game 1)

Carlos Gonzalez homered and tripled and Eric Young had three hits and two RBIs to power host Colorado to its fourth straight win in the first game of a doubleheader.

Todd Helton had a go-ahead, two-run single and Wilin Rosario and Jonathan Herrera added RBI singles for the Rockies, who won the nightcap 9-8 in 10 innings. There was a two-hour delay at the start while snow had to be removed from the field and the temperature at game time was 39 degrees.

David Wright clubbed a pair of homers - his first two of the year and his ninth and 10th in 30 games at Coors Field - and drove in three runs for New York, which had its two-game winning streak snapped and was playing for the first time since Saturday following two postponements.

Helton's go-ahead single capped a three-run rally in the fifth and sent Mets starter Dillon Gee (0-3) to his second straight early exit. He was charged with five runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings and had two walks, a wild pitch and hit a batter in the fifth.

The comeback made a winner of Juan Nicasio (2-0), who labored through five innings, giving up four runs on six hits and throwing 97 pitches. The bullpen pitched four scoreless innings and Colorado tacked on a run in the sixth and two more in the eighth to break it open.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rockies CF Dexter Fowler, who has swatted a team-high six homers, sat out with a sore left foot, the result of getting hit by a pitch in Sunday's game. ... Wright's 19th career multi-homer game is second in team history, behind only Darryl Strawberry (22). ... Rockies owner Dick Monfort and Mets general manager Sandy Alderson were among a huge throng that help shovel eight inches of snow off Coors Field to allow the games to be played. Monfort admitted the team was unprepared for the heavy snowfall, but lauded the efforts of team employees and volunteers.
