Giants 9, Mets 0

Madison Bumgarner struck out 10 -- including the game's final batter -- in a two-hitter while Hunter Pence homered twice and drove in four runs as visiting San Francisco routed New York.

Brandon Belt and Buster Posey also went deep for the Giants, who pulled within 2 1/2 games of the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Bumgarner (13-8) bounced back from a rough outing Monday against Pittsburgh with his best performance of the season, walking one in the second shutout and fourth complete game of his career.

Mets starter Bartolo Colon (10-9) matched his shortest outing of the season, lasting only 4 2/3 innings and allowing six runs on eight hits. Wilmer Flores and David Wright had the only hits for the Mets.

Pence opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the third and Belt added a solo shot in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Pence started another rally in the fifth, doubling home Bumgarner and scoring on an RBI double from Posey, who came around on Pablo Sandoval's RBI single for a 6-0 advantage.

Posey struck again in the seventh, driving a two-run shot to right-center, and Bumgarner took care of the rest. The left-hander walked Curtis Granderson to lead off the game and gave up a leadoff double to Flores in the third but didn't allow another baserunner until Wright's one-out single in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bumgarner went 1-for-2, raising his average to .265, and scored a pair of runs. … The Giants' four home runs doubled their total over the previous 10 games. … The Mets were shut out for the 10th time and held to two or fewer hits for the sixth time.
