Athletics 3, Rays 0

Coco Crisp recorded a pair of doubles and knocked in two while Drew Pomeranz pitched five scoreless innings as visiting Oakland blanked Tampa Bay for its fourth consecutive victory.

Eric Sogard and Nick Punto also registered two hits and John Jaso had an RBI as the Athletics won for the 10th time in their last 11 contests. Pomeranz (4-1) allowed three hits, two walks and struck out three while winning his third straight start without surrendering a run over 15 innings.

Yunel Escobar had a single and two walks for the Rays, who have scored only five runs in their last four games.

Crisp drilled a two-run double into the right-center field gap with two outs in the second inning and came home on Jaso’s single to left-center for a 3-0 lead. The Rays loaded the bases with one out in the third before Pomeranz forced Desmond Jennings to ground into a 6-4-3 double play.

Dan Otero did not give up a hit in two innings and Luke Gregerson put a pair of runners on base in the eighth, but got Jennings on a double-play grounder to end the threat. Sean Doolittle walked his first batter in 33 2/3 innings dating back to last season in the ninth before notching his third save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Crisp left the game in the sixth inning with a sore neck. … Oakland 3B Josh Donaldson was 0-for-4, but reached base for the 23rd straight road game after working a walk in the first inning. … Tampa Bay RHP Brandon Gomes was optioned to Triple-A Durham to make room for Jennings, who had returned from the bereavement list.
