Parmelee homers twice as Yankees top Angels
NEW YORK -- Chris Parmelee homered in consecutive at-bats Wednesday night during his first start as a Yankee, and New York scored four runs apiece in the sixth and seventh innings of a 12-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.
With the Yankees trailing 5-4, Parmelee opened the sixth inning by sending a 1-1 breaking ball from Jered Weaver (5-5) into the second deck in right field. With no outs in the seventh, he gave New York a 10-5 lead by sending a 2-1 pitch from Greg Mahle into the right-center-field seats.
Parmelee's third career multi-homer game was accompanied by two more big hits from Carlos Beltran. Beltran followed Parmelee's first home run with a game-tying double off Jose Alvarez, and he hit a two-run home run into the left field seats off Mahle with two outs in the seventh.
The Yankees scored double-digit runs for the third time this season and tied a season high with 17 hits en route to their eighth consecutive home victory over Los Angeles.
Besides the big nights from Parmelee (3-for-5) and Beltran (3-for-4), Brett Gardner had three hits and drove in two runs, while Jacoby Ellsbury homered and reached base four times. Alex Rodriguez contributed two hits, including an RBI single, and Brian McCann added a two-run double in the sixth.
Mike Trout homered and had an RBI double in a three-hit game for the Angels, and Albert Pujols had an RBI double. Gregorio Petit hit a two-run home run, and Jeffry Marte added a solo shot for Los Angeles, which has dropped 14 of its last 17 games in New York.

Weaver allowed six runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the first when Kole Calhoun hit a ground-rule double and scored on a Trout single.
New York quickly tied it as Ellsbury doubled on Weaver's first pitch and scored on Gardner's double to left field. The Yankees went ahead when Rodriguez lined a single up the middle with one out.
In the second, Los Angeles took a 3-2 lead when Petit hammered a first-pitch curveball into the left field seats for his third career home run, a two-run shot. The Angels extended the lead with one out in the third when Marte drove a 1-2 fastball into the left field seats.
Ellsbury opened the third by sending Weaver's 1-0 curveball just over the right field wall, and he helped the Yankees tie the game in the fourth.
With Parmelee on second base, Ellsbury appeared to make the final out on a flyout to right field, but he reached on catcher's interference. Two pitches later, Gardner slapped an RBI single to left.
