Carlos Correa's late homer lifts Astros past Angels

Carlos Correa's two-run homer in the ninth inning snapped a tie and lifted the Houston Astros to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday afternoon in Anaheim, Calif.

The Astros and Angels split the two-game series.

The Astros came to bat in the ninth inning with the game tied 2-2, thanks to solid performances by starting pitchers from both teams. The Astros' Zack Greinke allowed only a two-run homer to Mike Trout in the first inning, giving up five hits in seven innings and walking only one.

Angels starter Dylan Bundy gave up back-to-back homers to Kyle Tucker and Aledmys Diaz in the second inning, and nothing else. He lasted six innings, gave up four hits and struck out 10.

Ryan Pressly (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to get the win over Angels reliever Raisel Iglesias (1-1), who gave up Correa's homer.

The Angels took the lead in the first inning against Greinke after Shohei Ohtani had an infield single, stole second, and scored on Trout's homer, his second of the season.

Houston got the two runs back in the top of the second inning on the home runs by Tucker and Diaz.

From there, both starters settled in. After yielding Diaz's homer, Bundy retired 10 of the next 12 hitters, allowing two walks. He found trouble in the sixth but worked his way out of it.

With one out, Alex Bregman blooped a single to right and Yordan Alvarez dribbled a ball down the third-base line with the infield shifted to the right. Alvarez had a double and Bregman was at third with one out.

Bundy escaped when Correa popped out and Tucker struck out.

Likewise, Greinke was sharp after allowing Trout's homer. After allowing two runs and three hits in the first inning, Greinke shut out the Angels on two hits over the next six innings.
