Rockies at Giants

The injury bug continues to plague the Colorado Rockies, whose No. 1 starting pitcher has joined three other key teammates on the disabled list. The Rockies could use a solid outing from Tyler Chatwood on Saturday as they continue their four-game series against the host San Francisco Giants, who snapped out of an offensive slump with 11 hits in Friday’s 8-2 victory.

Colorado is looking to regroup after learning that right-hander Jon Gray suffered a broken foot in Thursday’s start and won’t be ready for a rehab assignment until mid-May at the earliest. The Rockies are off to 7-5 start without Ian Desmond (broken hand), Tom Murphy (broken arm) and David Dahl (stressed rib), but losing Gray is a major blow for the team’s thin rotation. San Francisco has one of the majors’ top rotations but was struggling offensively until Friday, when Chris Marrero provided a spark with his first career homer. The 28-year-old has been part of a platoon in left field with Jarrett Parker, but both players are hitting under .200 through 12 games.
