Athletics 0, Mariners 2

Felix Hernandez struck out a career-high 13 in eight innings as the Seattle Mariners shut out the Oakland Athletics 2-0 Tuesday night.

The Mariners won their second straight game under interim manager Daren Brown, who took over Monday after Don Wakamatsu was fired.

Hernandez (8-9) got out of bases-loaded jam in the first inning and finished with five hits in eight innings. David Aardsma earned his 22nd save with a perfect ninth.

Casey Kotchman and Franklin Gutierrez each had RBI singles for the Mariners.

Brett Anderson (3-3) allowed one run on five hits in seven innings to take the loss.
