Cubs 8, Giants 6
Kosuke Fukudome homered and Starlin Castro drove in three as the Chicago Cubs battered Tim Lincecum en route to an 8-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.
Ryan Dempster (10-8) worked 6 2/3 solid innings and Aramis Ramirez added two hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who snapped a four-game slide.
Chicago jumped on Lincecum (11-6) right away with four runs in the first inning. Tyler Colvin led off with a single and stole second before scoring on Castro’s single. Ramirez made it 2-0 with another single and Fukudome capped the big inning with his 10th homer of the season.
Castro added a two-run single in the fourth and Mike Fontenot doubled in two more in the eighth to give Chicago its second-biggest offensive output of the month.
Lincecum lasted only four innings and was charged with six runs on eight hits. The reigning two-time NL Cy Young Award winner has lost two in a row to see his ERA skyrocket to a season-high 3.41.
Buster Posey drove in four runs and scored the other two for the Giants, who have lost five of seven.
