Marlins 3, Pirates 2
Josh Johnson tossed eight strong innings to post his first victory in over a month and Dan Uggla belted his team-leading 28th home run as the Florida Marlins recorded a 3-2 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
Chad Tracy had an RBI single and Hanley Ramirez added a run-scoring sacrifice fly for Florida (59-60), which has won two in a row after a four-game losing skid.
Johnson (11-5) was as dominant on Wednesday as the pitcher who won 10 of his first 13 decisions this season. The 26-year-old All-Star right-hander allowed two runs and seven hits and struck out six in this one.
The victory was the first for Johnson since July 17 when he blanked the Washington Nationals.
Leo Nunez worked around a leadoff walk to retire the side in the ninth for his 27th save of the season.
Ryan Doumit and Andrew McCutchen launched solo homers and rookie Jose Tabata had three hits for Pittsburgh (40-80), which fell to 4-13 in the month of August.
Ross Ohlendorf (1-10) deserved a better fate in this one. The 28-year-old right-hander permitted three runs and four hits in eight innings to take the loss.
