Nationals 8, Phillies 1
The Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-1 Saturday at Citizens Bank Park, but they might have lost ace Stephen Strasburg in the process.
Strasburg left with one out in the fifth after feeling tightness in his right elbow. The 22-year-old right-hander was making his third start since coming off the disabled list.
The Nationals staked Strasburg to a 5-0 lead, and he was cruising along, having struck out six and allowed one run on two hits when he delivered a pitch and shook his right arm in pain.
Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick (8-6) lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and walking four.
Roger Bernadina hit a three-run home run, Ian Desmond went 4-for-5 and Adam Kennedy and Ivan Rodriguez drove in two runs apiece for Washington.
Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard was activated from the disabled list Saturday and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in his first game in nearly three weeks.
