Adrian Gonzalez belted a home run among his three hits and Jacoby Ellsbury stretched his hitting streak to 17 games with three more hits as the Boston Red Sox recorded a 9-5 home victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-3) picked up the win by allowing four runs on five hits in six innings.
The Twins scored three times in the first inning off Matsuzaka, highlighted by a two-run double by Jason Kubel. Matsuzaka settled down and permitted just a solo homer by Danny Valencia the rest of the way.
Boston got a run in the second inning and added four more in the third and never trailed again. Gonzalez, J.D. Drew and Jed Lowrie all had two RBIs for Boston, which won its second straight game.
Carl Pavano (2-4) was roughed up for seven runs on 10 hits in five innings to take the loss.
Boston finished with 14 hits in the game.
