Rays 7, Orioles 5 (11)
Ben Zobrist had a triple, three doubles and scored his fourth run on Evan Longoria’s tie-breaking RBI single in the top of the 11th as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-5 Saturday night.
Zobrist doubled to lead off the 11th off losing pitcher Jeremy Accardo (3-2), moved to third on a ground out and came home on Longoria’s third RBI of the game. Casey Kotchman followed with an RBI double, his fourth hit.
Juan Cruz (4-0) got the final two outs of the 10th to earn the win. Kyle Farnsworth finished it for his 14th save as the Rays improved to 4-1 in extra-inning games.
Mark Reynolds had his first multi-home run game since being acquired by the Orioles in the off season. He hit a solo blast in the fifth and a two-run homer in the sixth.
The Orioles took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth on Brandon Snyder’s bases-loaded walk, but closer Kevin Gregg blew his fourth save. Zobrist tripled with one out and scored on a two-out, RBI single by Kotchman to tie it in the ninth.
Johnny Damon had a single, his 498th career double and scored twice as the Rays built a 3-0 lead. Damon has now reached base in 36 straight games, the longest current streak in the major leagues.
