Blue Jays 7, Athletics 6 (10)

Yunel Escobar hit a two-run walk-off homer in the 10th inning to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-6 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

Rajai Davis led off the 10th with a single to center off righthander Grant Balfour (0-1) and drew plenty of attention at first base because of his speed. After a series of checks on the runner, Escobar drove a first-pitch fastball from Balfour over the wall in right.

Josh Willingham had given the A’s the lead in the top of the 10th when he drove a 2-2 pitch from Jason Frasor (1-0) over the left-field wall for his second home run of the season.

Toronto trailed 5-1 before rallying for four runs in the sixth. Brandon McCarthy started for Oakland and was cruising until Rajai Davis led off with a double and Escobar reached on an error by Kevin Kouzmanoff at third, which opened the door for the big inning.

Adam Lind hit a sacrifice fly, and Aaron Hill and Edwin Encarnacion drove in runs before Travis Snider’s groundout pushed across Juan Rivera to make it 5-5.
