Royals 3, Blue Jays 2 (11)
Rookie Eric Hosmer delivered a walk-off single with the bases loaded and two out in the 11th inning as the Kansas City Royals ended a four-game losing streak Monday with a 3-2 home victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Mike Aviles had an RBI triple and Joakim Soria (4-3) tossed two scoreless innings for the Royals, who ended a run of five consecutive games with fewer than three runs scored.
Hosmer, who entered with five multi-hit performances during a seven-game hitting streak, recorded his sixth when he dumped a pitch from Frank Francisco (1-3) into center field for his second single of the night, plating Chris Getz with the winning run. Hosmer also drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh to forge a 2-2 tie.
Each team scored an unearned run in the fourth, with Toronto doing it without the benefit of a hit. The Blue Jays didn't get their first hit off Royals starter Felipe Paulino until Jayson Nix led off the sixth with a single.
After Juan Rivera singled and scored in the top of the seventh to put Toronto ahead 2-1, Marc Rzepczynski came in with one on and two out in the bottom half and walked three straight to force in the tying run. Rzepczynski entered having walked just seven in 26 innings this season.
Toronto has lost eight of its last 11 games at Kansas City.
