Blue Jays 4, Royals 3
Brett Lawrie's tiebreaking solo homer in the seventh inning propelled the Toronto Blue Jays to a 4-3 triumph over the visiting Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
The rookie third baseman was the Jays' offensive star, even with Jose Bautista blasting his major league-leading 37th home run. Lawrie tripled home a run in the fourth before delighting the Rogers Centre crowd with a blast to left field off Louis Coleman (1-3) to lead off the seventh.
Lawrie has four homers and 12 RBIs in his first 18 games in the majors.
Jesse Litsch (5-3) earned the win with an inning of scoreless ball. It was the first victory for the starter-turned-reliever since May 11 against Boston.
Frank Francisco worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth for his 11th save.
Alex Gordon hit his career-best 17th home run while Billy Butler had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Royals.
