Angels 2, Indians 1 (11)
Torii Hunter lined an RBI single to left field with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the host Los Angeles Angels a 2-1 win over the red-hot Cleveland Indians on Friday.
Erick Aybar singled to lead off the 11th before Bobby Abreu and Maicer Izturis followed with singles to load the bases for Hunter, who came through against Cleveland reliever Justin Germano (0-1).
Francisco Rodney (1-1) pitched a scoreless top-half of the 11th to collect the win for Los Angeles.
The Indians came into the series batting .141 against Los Angeles pitching and didn't fare much better against Angels rookie starter Tyler Chatwood. The righthander pitched eight innings and allowed one run on just two hits. He out-dueled Cleveland starter Justin Masterson, who was seeking his sixth win and allowed one run and nine hits over seven innings.
Cleveland broke through first in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by Travis Hafner. Los Angeles struck back to tie it in the sixth on an RBI double by Izturis.
The loss was just the second for Cleveland in its last 10 games, while the Angels picked up their third straight victory after taking a pair in Boston.
