Indians 4, Angels 3
Shin-Soo Choo's two-run double sparked a three-run fifth inning and starter Alex White earned his first career victory as the visiting Cleveland Indians topped the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 Saturday.
The Indians picked up their ninth win in 11 games thanks to White (1-0), who was making his second career start. He pitched six innings, allowed three runs, seven hits and struck out six. He outdueled Los Angeles starter Jered Weaver (6-2), who dropped his second consecutive start. Weaver lasted six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits.
Chris Perez pitched a scoreless ninth for his 10th save.
The Angels led 2-1 when the Indians jumped on Weaver in the fifth. Choo lined a two-out double that scored Asdrubal Cabrera and Grady Sizemore, and later scored on a single by Carlos Santana that put Cleveland ahead 4-2.
The Angels added a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Vernon Wells. Wells finished 1-for-3 with three RBIs as the Angels had their three-game winning streak snapped.
