Indians 5, Royals 2
Matt LaPorta belted a three-run homer in the ninth inning as the Cleveland Indians rallied for a 5-2 home victory over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday.
Michael Brantley had an RBI single and Kosuke Fukudome added a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the ninth inning for Cleveland, which collected its second win in nine outings.
After Chris Getz's RBI single gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth, Cleveland went to work on closer Joakim Soria (5-4). Fukudome tied the game with a sacrifice fly before the Indians put runners on first and second.
LaPorta then deposited an offering from Soria just over the left-field wall for his 10th homer of the season and second in three nights.
Tony Sipp (6-2) tossed one scoreless inning to secure the win.
After belting a grand slam on Friday, Melky Cabrera collected three hits and Alex Gordon scored a run as Kansas City fell for the fourth time in 11 outings.
