Diamondbacks 6, Marlins 5
Justin Upton's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning capped Arizona's comeback from a four-run deficit for a 6-5 win over Florida on Wednesday evening.
Willie Bloomquist led off the final frame with a pinch-hit infield single off Clay Hensley (0-2), and after Kelly Johnson drew a two-out walk against Burke Badenhop, Upton drove a 2-0 pitch into right field to give the Diamondbacks their eighth win in nine games.
Chris Young's RBI double in the eighth inning put the Diamondbacks in front by a run, but John Buck led off the top of the ninth with a solo home run against Arizona closer J.J. Putz (1-1), who earned the win despite his first blown save of the year.
Mike Stanton had given the Marlins an early 4-0 lead with a two-run homer in the second inning and an RBI triple in the third, but the Diamondbacks got even with four runs in the sixth. Ryan Roberts opened the rally with a two-run shot off Florida starter Javier Vazquez.
Vazquez allowed four runs on six hits over six innings with five strikeouts, helping himself with an RBI single in the second inning. Daniel Hudson went seven innings for Arizona, giving up 10 hits and striking out three.
