Pirates 3, Mets 2
Andrew McCutchen doubled home the go-ahead runs in the third inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates held on for a 3-2 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday night.
Pirates starter James McDonald (4-4) allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings for his first win since May 19.
Joel Hanrahan worked a flawless ninth inning to stay perfect on the season with 16th save in as many chances.
Mets starter R.A. Dickey (3-7) was a hard-luck loser after giving up three runs on eight hits in eight innings as New York lost for just the second time in seven games.
After the Mets scratched out a run in the first, the Pirates tied it on Garrett Jones' RBI double in the second and went ahead on McCutchen's two-run double in the third.
McCutchen ripped a shot that ricocheted off the glove of Mets third baseman Daniel Murphy, plating Jose Tabata and Josh Harrison, who had two hits apiece.
The two RBIs gave McCutchen 10 during his 10-game hitting streak. Carlos Beltran pulled the Mets within 3-2 with an RBI single in the fifth.
Jose Reyes, Ruben Tejada and Beltran had two hits apiece.
