Diamondbacks 3, Phillies 2

Lyle Overbay belted a two-run double in the ninth inning off Roy Halladay as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied for a 3-2 road victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

With Halladay (15-5) vying his season-high fifth straight win, Overbay doubled to right center to plate Justin Upton and pinch-runner Collin Cowgill with one out in the ninth inning.

Halladay matched a season high with 14 strikeouts en route to his seventh complete game of the season and 65th career. He also fanned 14 in a victory over the San Diego Padres on April 24.

Overbay also had an RBI single in the second inning as Arizona matched a season high with seven straight victories and moved 3 1/2 games ahead of San Francisco in the National League West.

Bryan Shaw (1-0) pitched one scoreless inning of relief to secure his first career victory. J.J. Putz stranded a runner on second for his 30th save of the season.

Shane Victorino belted a two-run homer and Chase Utley had three hits for Philadelphia, which fell for just the third time in 16 games.
