Rookie Michael Pineda pitched seven shutout innings, and Adam Kennedy and Carlos Peguero homered as the Seattle Mariners snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins on Monday.
Pineda (5-2) allowed three hits, struck out seven and walked none as he helped send the Twins to their ninth straight loss.
Aaron Laffey pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings and Jamey Wright recorded the final two outs to complete a four-hitter as Seattle won for the first time since May 6.
Kennedy and Peguero hit back-to-back two-out homers in the sixth off Scott Baker (2-3) as the Mariners doubled their lead to 4-0.
The Mariners scored their first two runs on RBI doubles by Jack Cust in the first and Justin Smoak in the third.
Kennedy, who had two of Seattleās eight hits, also hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Minnesota scored two unearned runs in the ninth on errors by first baseman Kennedy and third baseman Chone Figgins.
Baker allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings. He struck out eight and walked two.
