Twins 4, Mariners 2
Nick Blackburn tossed his first complete game of the season and Denard Span went 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Minnesota Twins snapped their four-game losing streak Tuesday with a 4-2 triumph over the visiting Seattle Mariners.
Jason Kubel had two hits and an RBI while Matt Tolbert perfectly executed a squeeze bunt for the Twins, who had lost 13 of 16 games.
After squandering a two-run lead in the fourth inning, Minnesota regained it in the seventh.
Rene Rivera hit a one-out single and went to third on Alexi Casilla's base hit before scoring on a balk by Doug Fister, giving the Twins a 3-2 edge. Span followed with a double that plated Casilla, who also scored on Tolbert's bunt in the third to put Minnesota ahead 2-0.
That was enough for Blackburn (4-4), who allowed two runs and seven hits en route to his fifth career complete game. He struck out six without a walk for his third straight victory and first at home this season.
Fister (2-5) was tagged for four runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings. The 27-year old fell to 0-4 lifetime against Minnesota and remained winless since April 30.
Miguel Olivo doubled and belted a two-run homer for the Mariners, who had their six-game winning streak stopped.
