Twins 9, Rangers 8

Joe Mauer snapped a tie in the ninth inning with a pinch-hit double as the visiting Minnesota Twins rallied for a 9-8 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Danny Valencia drove in two runs apiece for Minnesota, which won for only the fourth time in 11 road games and improved to 2-45 this season when trailing after eight innings.

Texas closer Neftali Feliz (0-2), who blew his fifth save opportunity, retired the first batter in the ninth before Delmon Young singled and pinch-hitter Jim Thome doubled.

Nishioka reached on an error by shortstop Elvis Andrus, which allowed Young to score the tying run, and Mauer plated pinch-runner Jason Repko with a double to left-center field.

Glen Perkins (3-1) tossed a scoreless eighth and Joe Nathan worked out of a jam in the ninth for his eighth save in 11 chances.

Yorvit Torrealba homered and drove in four runs for the Rangers, who lost for only the second time in 12 home games.
