Twins 7, Rangers 2
Joe Mauer and Michael Cuddyer each homered and drove in two runs, and Brian Duensing pitched 6 2/3 strong innings to lead the visiting Minnesota Twins to a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
Jason Kubel hit a three-run double in the ninth and Danny Valencia extended his hitting streak to 11 games as Minnesota won for the ninth time in its last 11 meetings with Texas.
Mauer staked the Twins to a 1-0 edge with a two-out solo blast in the first. It was the three-time batting champion's first homer since Sept. 15, a span of 54 games.
Cuddyer led off the fourth against Texas starter C.J. Wilson (10-8) with his 15th shot of the season to give Minnesota a 2-0 advantage. Mauer and Cuddyer hit back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth for a 4-1 lead.
Duensing (8-8) allowed one run and scattered seven hits en route to his fourth win in five decisions.
Wilson yielded four runs over 6 2/3 innings and had his five-game winning streak snapped. The lefthander fell to 0-4 lifetime against Minnesota.
