Twins 11, Angels 4

Michael Cuddyer and Delmon Young each homered twice as the Minnesota Twins smashed a season-high five homers en route to an 11-4 victory over the host Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.

Cuddyer hit a grand slam to snap a 4-4 tie in the fifth and added a solo homer in the ninth as Minnesota snapped a three-game losing streak.

Young hit a two-run homer in the second and a solo shot in the fourth off Joel Pineiro (5-6) as the Angels lost for only the fifth time in 14 games.

Jason Kubel also homered for the Twins, who had only 66 entering the contest. Kubel and Ben Revere each had three of Minnesota’s 15 hits.

Reliever Anthony Swarzak (3-3) pitched five innings of one-hit shutout ball for Minnesota.

The Angels scored four runs in the third on Peter Bourjos’ homer, Torii Hunter’s two-run single and Alberto Callaspo’s single to take a 4-3 lead.

Pineiro gave up seven runs and seven hits in four innings and has allowed 22 earned runs in 13 innings over his last four starts.

Minnesota starter Scott Baker gave up four runs (three earned) and five hits in three innings.
