Twins 5, Mariners 4

Mike Carp went 5-for-5 with two doubles as the Seattle Mariners defeated host Minnesota 5-4 on Tuesday to extend the Twins’ losing skid to 10 games.

It is the longest losing streak in 13 years for the Twins, who failed to score in the ninth despite loading the bases with none out.

The red-hot Carp lined an RBI double to the center-field fence in the first, giving him eight RBIs in his last four games.

Seattle rookie third baseman Alex Liddi homered for the second straight game, a two-run blast that tied the game 4-4 in the sixth.

Adam Kennedy’s soft infield single scored Kyle Seager with the go-ahead run in the seventh.

Brandon League worked out of the jam in the ninth to earn his 35th save in 40 tries.

Twins rookie Ben Revere went 4-for-5 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki was 1-for-5, leaving him 24 hits shy of reaching 200 for the 11th straight time with nine games to go.
