Twins 3, Mariners 2

Rene Tosoni’s two-out double in the ninth inning plated Trevor Plouffe to allow the host Minnesota Twins to snap an 11-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday.

After Plouffe drew a two-out walk off Steve Delabar (1-1), Tosoni - who entered batting .184 - followed with the game-winning hit to center.

The Twins’ skid was their longest since they lost 14 straight in 1982.

Seattle failed in its bid for its first sweep in Minnesota since taking a four-game series at the Metrodome in 2003.

Mariners rookie starter Blake Beavan and converted Twins reliever Anthony Swarzak each pitched well, allowing two runs but not figuring in the decision. Joe Nathan (2-1) got the win after stranding two runners in the top of the ninth inning.

Seattle failed to capitalize on 13 hits and three walks.
