Pirates 6, Astros 1
Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Wood each hit two-run doubles and Charlie Morton turned in a strong start as the Pittsburgh Pirates rolled to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Houston Astros on Saturday night.
Morton (4-1) went 7 2/3 innings, striking out five while scattering seven hits.
The Pirates gave Morton all the runs he would need in the second inning, when Lyle Overbay hit a solo home run and McCutchen followed with a two-run double against Bud Norris (2-2).
Carlos Lee put Houston on the board with an RBI single in the eighth inning, but Pittsburgh put it away with three runs in the eighth, two of which scored on Wood's double.
Norris yielded seven hits and two walks while striking out nine in seven innings.
