Dodgers 5, Astros 4

Jerry Sands hit a grand slam and the Los Angeles Dodgers recovered from a late collapse Monday by holding on for a 5-4 victory in Houston on Tuesday night.

Chad Billingsley (3-4) earned the win despite allowing four runs in six innings for Los Angeles. He struck out nine while giving up five hits and three walks.

Javy Guerra worked the ninth inning for his first save.

The Dodgers broke out to an early five-run lead when Jay Gibbons hit a solo homer in the second inning and Sands followed with a bases-loaded shot in the third against J.A. Happ (3-6). A two-out error by Astros second baseman Bill Hall kept the inning alive for Sands.

Houston came back with three runs in the bottom of the third and got within one on Chris Johnson's sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Happ worked five innings in defeat, surrendering five runs – one earned – on just three hits.
