Giants 6, Pirates 0
Madison Bumgarner pitched seven stellar innings and Chris Stewart hit his first career home run as the San Francisco Giants posted a 6-0 triumph over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.
Aubrey Huff doubled, homered and drove in two runs for San Francisco, which won for only the third time in 12 games.
Bumgarner (7-11) limited Pittsburgh to four hits and walked one as he halted his personal two-game losing streak. The 22-year-old recorded 10 strikeouts, one shy of his career high set against Cleveland on June 26.
After Huff gave the Giants a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the fourth, Stewart led off the following inning with his first homer in 140 career at-bats. Huff added a solo shot in the sixth and San Francisco doubled its lead with three runs in the eighth.
James McDonald (7-6) yielded three runs in six innings for Pittsburgh, which has lost 11 of its last 12 contests.
