Dodgers 3, Rockies 2
Clayton Kershaw won his fourth straight game and Matt Kemp laced a two-run double as the host Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Kershaw (12-4), who struck out six to raise his major-league leading total to 173, allowed two runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings to help Los Angeles to its fourth straight victory.
Matt Guerrier retired four consecutive batters and Kenley Jansen struck out two in the ninth for his second save to send Colorado to its fourth straight loss.
Ty Wigginton dropped Rafael Furcal’s flyball for a two-base error to start the fourth and Andre Ethier walked before Kemp drilled a two-run double into the right-center field gap. Kemp later scored on Juan Rivera’s short sacrifice fly when second baseman Mark Ellis caught the ball and tripped over right fielder Ryan Spilborghs.
Dexter Fowler, Jonathan Herrera and Todd Helton delivered consecutive two-out fifth-inning singles for Colorado’s first run.
The Rockies pulled within 3-2 in the seventh on Todd Helton’s infield out.
Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin (8-8) gave up three runs – one earned – and three hits in six innings.
